When it comes to selecting a notebook, there are a few choices you can make right away that will help you find the right notebook for you. What size screen size would you prefer? Do you want the ability to play 3D games? Do you prefer Windows XP or Windows Vista?. Once you make these decisions, other features like Bluetooth, Firewire, webcam; etc. will allow us to help you find the notebook that’s right for you.
“We sell all types of notebooks. From the smallest “palmtop” to engineering calibre desktop replacements, we have the notebook to suit your needs”
Let’s get started!
SIZE The first step in selecting your new notebook is to decide on the size of screen you prefer. 15” is the most popular size followed closely by 14” and 17”. The 15” screen sized notebook is the best balance of size and weight for most people. If, on the other hand, you are after that little bit of extra portability, 12” may be the size for you. We can even get down to as small as 7” if that’s what you’re after. Maybe, however, you are looking for something that you won’t be moving around much and like the added convenience of a separate number pad and larger screen size, then perhaps a 17” or even 20” notebook is for you.
GRAPHICS Once you decide on the size, your next step is to ask yourself whether or not you will be playing advanced 3D games or creating 3D models on the system as that is the next most important price factor in a notebook. A notebook with a dedicated graphics chip can cost as much as $500 more than the equivalent without. All notebooks now ship with a “dual core” processor and we rarely sell a system with less than 2Gb of RAM. These specifications alone are like a hot knife through butter for any common computer usage. This would include web surfing, email, word processing, office use, music and video playback. If this is what you primarily use your computer for, then there is no sense in spending extra money for horsepower you don’t need.
OPERATING SYSTEM As far as operating system goes, Microsoft Windows Vista is here to stay for the next few years but we can still get you into a Windows XP based notebook if you have applications that still require it or are simply reluctant to make the switch.
We stock both new and “open box” discounted notebooks. We carry all major brands. This includes but not limited to Acer, Toshiba, HP/Compaq, MSI, Asus, LG and Fujitsu.
Drop by the store and ask us what we currently have in stock in the back as we only keep a limited number on display.
